Despite what people who say 'I thought Jesus was a pacifist' feel, the Catholic Church doesn't teach that violence must never, ever, under any circumstances at all, be used. The Church isn't the malevolent force behind all wars, either. And neither are the Jews, or shape-shifting space alien lizard people. As far as I know, at least.

I'm pretty sure that people who are sure that the Church is completely devoted to non-violence - and those who are equally convinced that the Church is the embodiment of all ickiness in the world - will be unconvinced.
