Independence Day: A Reflection About Freedom, from Milwaukee

A tip of the hat to @archmil, Archdiocese of Milwaukee on Twitter, for the heads-up on this video:I think it's worth the two minutes and 41 seconds it takes to listen.

I think Archbishop Listecki is right. Independence Day is "a statement of who we are:
"...We celebrate what we have fought to defend: a way of life marked by the freedoms which proclaim our dignity as human beings...."

What's That Doing in a Nice Catholic Blog?

From time to time, a service that I use will display links to - odd - services and retailers.

I block a few of the more obvious dubious advertisers.

For example: psychic anything, numerology, mediums, and related practices are on the no-no list for Catholics. It has to do with the Church's stand on divination. I try to block those ads.

Sometime regrettable advertisements get through, anyway.

Bottom line? What that service displays reflects the local culture's norms, - not Catholic teaching.
