So far, it looks like the death toll isn't going to be as high as that of the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. Still, the situation in Japan is emphatically not good.
For folks who have friends or relatives in Japan, here's an announcement I've run in another blog:
Google has launched a 'people finder' for Japan, in Japanese, English, Korean, Chinese (simplified), and Chinese (traditional):
- japan.person-finder.appspot.com
Person Finder: 2011 Japan Earthquake
日本語 | English | 한국어 | 中 文 (简 体) | 中 文 (繁 體)
- "PLEASE NOTE: All data entered will be available to the public and viewable and usable by anyone. Google does not review or verify the accuracy of this data."
No pressure, but I think that praying for the folks in Japan couldn't hurt.
I'll get back to that idea, and what's been happening in Japan.
I've been updating a link list of posts dealing with the situation in Japan in that other blog:
- "Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of March 11, 2011: Posts"
